Meet Head Coach Tenzin Dorje

Born and raised in the high-altitude Buddhist sanctuary of Sethan in the Pir Panjal range, Tenzin has dedicated his life to big mountain skiing. Trained at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (ABVIMAS) in Manali, with international certifications in AIARE Avalanche Safety and Wilderness Emergency Medicine. Guided over 1,200 skiers across the globe from first-time nursery turns to high-elevation couloirs.

Unlike commercial mega-resorts where instructors rotate between 50 students per day, Tenzin founded thebackCountryOdyssey on an unbending principle: ski coaching in the Himalayas should be intimate, respectful, and grounded in authentic mountain literacy.
